You’ve been invited to a wedding but you’ve recently become a parent, which means that you can no longer RSVP and only have to worry about taking the day off work. Once you have a little person to look after, you have to think about many extra things that you might not have even thought about beforehand. If you can’t arrange to get childcare for the day or you simply want to take your baby to the wedding and involve him/her in the memories that you’re going to make with your friends/family, here are some of the things that you’ll need to consider prior to the big day.
How old is your baby?
Depending on the age of your baby, it might not be sensible at all to take them to the wedding. You might be much better off leaving him/her with a babysitter or a relative rather than trying to force the situation and take your baby to the event. Not only is it likely to be a long day, but you could find yourself having to deal with your crying baby for most of the day, which could mean that you miss the ceremony and risk annoying the ‘not so happy’ couple and their guests. Not many how hard you try to make your baby happy, such as buying beautiful clothes and comfortable accessories from Little Bliss Co., it just might not be enough!
What is your baby going to wear?
This can be difficult that you think – many parents believe that they can go and buy their baby a cute little outfit for the wedding and everything is going to be fine. However, if your baby finds certain materials to be irritating or simply doesn’t like being dressed in anything other than the regular clothes which s/he is familiar with, this could be very tricky. While people will generally forgive you for not dressing up your baby for a wedding, you might not feel like you want to explain it to everybody on the day if they ask or hint at anything. However, if your baby is fine wearing whatever you decide, you can have plenty of fun going shopping for your own outfit and your baby’s outfit – don’t forget to add a dainty little pair of designer baby shoes to top off the look!
Have you got everything that you need?
Just like taking your baby out for the day anywhere else, you’ll need to make sure that you’ve got everything that you could potentially need while at the wedding. You should pack the baby bag with all the necessary things, but take extra supplies if the wedding is being held far away or somewhere remote and away from shops and supermarkets. It’s always better to over-pack – you don’t want to find yourself in a situation where you’re leaving the wedding early because you’ve forgotten something and need to rush home to get it!
